Superstar actor Thalapathy Vijay and acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj join forces once again for the highly-anticipated film, Thalapathy 67.
The film industry is abuzz with the latest announcement of a reunion between superstar actor Thalapathy Vijay and acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj, following their successful collaboration on the 2021 Tamil action film, Master. The tentatively-titled Thalapathy 67 has already begun production, with Vijay taking on the role of a mature gangster in his 40s with a salt and pepper look. The muhurat puja ceremony took place in December 2022.

According to sources close to the project, the film's official announcement video is set to be unveiled on January 26, offering a glimpse into Vijay's character and the unique world that Lokesh Kanagaraj is creating for the film. Shooting for Thalapathy 67 has already begun, with a schedule set to take place in Kodaikanal and a major portion of the film to be shot in Kashmir, where Sanjay Dutt will also join the cast. It is also reported that the film will be shot entirely in India, with no plans for international locations.
There are also rumors that Thalapathy 67 will be a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), with potential cameos from stars such as Vikram and Kaithi. However, these plans have not yet been confirmed.
In addition to Thalapathy 67, Vijay recently starred in the Tamil action-drama, Varisu, directed by Vamshi Paidipally. Lokesh Kanagaraj's most recent directorial effort was the Tamil action-thriller, Vikram, which starred Kamal Haasan and featured Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, and Suriya in important roles.
Sanjay Dutt is also set to play one of the villains in Thalapathy 67, and is reportedly being paid a substantial sum of 10 crore for his role in the film. Other notable cast members include Trisha, Gautham Menon and Mysskin, with the film being slated for a pan-India release.
